First, here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you!
After the vote last week, the majority of you wanted Sydney to give Charlie a chance, so here's their date continued....
Charlie
was beaming when he sat down again, a grin broader and more genuine than any
make-up could do justice. His eyes were filled with wonder, like he couldn’t
believe she was still there, and she hated herself for almost running out on
him.
She could see
every adorable freckle on his face now. His smiling lips looked so kissable, and his hair, dear God, his hair—auburn curls that spoke of a touch of devilishness in this delicious do-gooder.

You are the master of deep third, Evelyn. I love how you plunk the reader down soundly inside the character's head. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteNo post for me this week.
Merry Christmas!
Aww, Teresa! Thank you so much! Merry Christmas to you too! :)

DeleteYes, online is a gamble. I take it there was no picture on his profile? Or did she just figure it wasn't really his pic?
ReplyDeleteThere were a few pictures on his profile, but when she first met him in the 3-D world he was wearing clown make-up. So this is a nice, surprising change for her. lol
DeleteI KNEW I liked him, despite the whole clown thing! Terrific excerpt!
ReplyDeleteGlad he cleans up nice, and glad she stayed! He sounds adorable.
ReplyDeleteYay Charlie! Sounds like the clown makeup was hiding a whole bunch of handsome. Now I just hope he doesn't find the 'Dear John' note in her purse...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your extra writing time over the holidays! I get to see my boy in 3 hours, 21 minutes -- not that I'm keeping track or anything!
Lovely scene - fantastic imagery!
ReplyDeleteSo glad she didn't leave and it seems he is, too! Now she just needs to get rid of that dang napkin!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Gemma, your visual descriptions in this snippet are fantastic! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad he came back before she skated out. Great job conveying her excitement!
