Weekend Writing Warriors #147!

Well, my friends, I must apologize for last week. I had my post all ready to go and forgot the one tiny detail of actually signing up on the linky list.  Here's the blurb for Adventures in Online Dating: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

 And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off: 
“You’re on.” Butterflies belly flopped in her stomach. When he let go of her hip and pressed his palm to her lower back instead, she purred. She walked in step with him, smiling all the while because he wanted her to stay with him. He wanted to have coffee with her--real coffee, not that black sludge of death. He was a good, hearty, healthy, meat-eating kind of manly man; at least he looked that way.
            “You eat meat, right?”
            He stopped walking and turned to her with a curious grin. “I’m a carnivore and proud of it.”
            “God bless you.”

 So, just to go off of my post last week, the fella I'm relationshipping with met my parents, as scheduled. We went out for dinner together. Mom didn't mention anything about weddings or babies. Dad only ordered one dessert and kept the embarrassing stories to a minimum. And my guy couldn't have been more charming. Suffice it to say, everyone left with full tummies and happy hearts. :) Wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead!

    Yippee on both the snippet and the new guy dinner with your folks. Funny description on the dinner and so typical.
    I met daughter's in-laws -to-be at their home for Thanksgiving. Daughter tutored me for weeks on behavior. She's the teacher , I'm the mother. They are Italian speaking from the old country. We got along fabulously with an occasional frown from daughter.
    Really scary but to me, hilarious. Best to you, dear friend.

      LOL, I totally understand the 'behaviour tutoring'. So glad that you all got along fabulously. Now my extended family is clamoring to meet my guy. I'm sure they'll all be camped out on the lawn whenever I bring him to my parents' house. :D Thanks so much for your kind words and constant support, Charmaine. You're a wonderful friend! xo

    The snippet made me laugh. Making sure her new beau was a meat-eater. ROFL. She sure does know how to hit the important things early, doesn't she?

    And congrats on the successful parent meeting! The first time my wife and I met the other's parents were super super awkward, but I suppose that's to be expected when you're dating someone of your same gender in the deep south. C'est la vie. Glad everything went well for you! :-)

      Thanks for the congrats! I can imagine your 'meet the parents' experience was awkward, but those kind of encounters make for the best stories, don't they? You can always laugh about it afterward. :)

    Carnivores rule! Really, we do. We eat everyone else. :D I think you should have let your dad have at least 2 desserts. Meeting boys is hard on the Daddy.

    I'm chuckling, thinking how out of left field that "You eat meat, right?" comment must have seemed! But yet, he responds like a pro! Excellent!

    I knew everybody would love everybody else! Best to get the introductions out of the way before Christmas, right?

      Syd does have some Lorelai-like tendencies with the seemingly random questions. If only he could see inside her head. ;)
