Here's the premise: It's the year 2033. Since so many people have developed allergies to peanuts in this century, the government has banned peanuts and all peanut-related products, including (*gasp*) peanut butter. Side note: I think that was the most anyone has ever used the word 'peanut' in a sentence. Well, as you can imagine, Morgan, my heroine, refuses to live in a world without PB. So, with the help of my hero, Clark, they build their own peanut-butter-making machine in the secret basement of her home and begin the business of bootlegging. Also, they share a few pb kisses, etc, etc.
And here's the excerpt, continuing from where we left off:
Too busy taking in every flawless detail of his face, she
almost missed when he reached for her hand. “Oh.”
His hot palm pressed against hers as they officially became
acquainted. “It’s so nice to finally meet you face to face, Morgan.”
God, he had to stop talking. He had to stop saying her name
and touching any part of her and being within five feet of her before she
melted into oblivion. “Yeah. Same...uh, me too. You, I mean.”

Well, we're nearing my most favourite day of the year, and I've barely even scratched the surface on my Christmas shopping. I did, however, buy myself a little somethin' somethin', as per tradition. I'm ridiculously easy to shop for. I like that about myself. Toys, games, sporting equipment...you really can't go wrong, particularly if you start in the childrens' section. :D Can't wait to be home with my family. I'm counting down the days. Hope you all have a fabulous week!
What I like about this is the handshake! It is so hard to describe a handshake in a different way. I like the way you've done it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Cara! I like to switch things up a bit whenever I can. :) So glad you liked the wording!
DeleteHandshake, her stuttering all so delicious. Thanks for the big smile, Evelyn.
ReplyDeleteAnd ditto to you, Charmaine! This is my face: :D Thank you!
DeleteI can't imagine how she's possibly going to get any work done if she's this flustered just by his presence. :)
ReplyDeleteI know, right? Maybe they need to do something to burn some of that nervous energy. ;) Thanks, ED!
DeleteNice! You did a fantastic job of conveying what she's feeling, Evelyn. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't want to wish our lives away, but I hope your time home with family arrives quickly! :-)
Thank you, Teresa! So thrilled you think so! I don't like to wish away the time either, but I'm so anxious for hugs and being home with family again. :)
DeleteSounds like he makes her a little discombobulated. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Laurie! And nicely done on the spelling of 'discombobulated'! ;)
DeleteReally enjoyed this scene, he so totally affects her LOL. Great 8!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Veronica! Confession: he totally affects me too! :D
DeleteToo funny! I love her flustered communication : ) I'm sure it won't be lost on him.
ReplyDeleteNah, he's pretty smart, bein' a professor and all. ;) Thanks, Millie!
DeleteI don't know what it is about this couple that has me so enthralled about their story. Maybe it's the peanut butter! Making me want to 'stick' around and hear more about them! Have fun Christmas shopping!
ReplyDeleteHee! That's music to my ears! Thanks so much, A-M! :x
DeleteLove her reaction to him saying her name, touching her, etc. Sounds like she's headed for a meltdown, or perhaps she'll end up bolting out of the room awkwardly.
ReplyDeletelol, that's more like something I would do. Hopefully my character will be able to pull herself together a little more. ;) Thanks, Caitlin!
DeleteSounds like those Reese's pieces are melting in her mouth! LOL. Adorable the way they get to each other :-bd
ReplyDeleteHee! I wish I had me some Reese's pieces right now! Thanks so much for commenting, Chelle! :)
DeleteYou are awesome! Can't wait to read this whole story!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to share it with you! Hopefully soon! :) Thanks, Mags!
