Weekend Writing Warriors #106!

Evelyn Jules can't come to the web right now. She's busy vacationing with her best girls in fabulous, sunny Las Vegas! However, she CAN share some pre-written words, so here goes....

Adventures in Online Dating blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt!
“You’re using napkins,” he said reassuringly. “The real thing is so much easier, and it just so happens I’ve got a trunk full of them.”
She giggled. She couldn’t help herself. This was a guy who was proud to admit he was carting a trunk-load of juggling balls.
“And it would give us a reason to prolong our date,” he added with a hopeful smile.
Relief pulsed through her veins. She’d come so close to cutting their date short, and now she couldn’t imagine it ending. “I don’t need a reason.”

Weekend Writing Warriors #105!

Hey there, my friends! Many thanks for the lovely birthday messages from last weekend. I had a fantastic time super-bowling with the fam, despite the fact that I wasn't the big winner. But I got the biggest piece of cake so that makes up for it. Mostly. As my gift to you, I'm continuing with Adventures in Online Dating. ;) Read on!

Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

The vibrations of his laughter shook through her. “That’s our best kept secret.” He placed two of the balled up napkins in her hands—one in the right and one in the left—his touch lingering against her fingertips. “Start with the right hand, and when the ball is at its peak and beginning its descent, toss the ball in your left hand underneath it.”
He held both her hands in his own, motioning hers in the pattern he’d just explained. Slowly, and with lots of encouragement, he managed to convince her to attempt the pattern on her own.
After her fifth fumbled attempt and her echoing frustration, he spun her around in his arms. Her cheeks flamed under the heat of his gaze. “Told you I was a klutz.”

Well, we've just kicked off semester two at Adult High School. I'm teaching up a storm and soon to be packing up a storm for my trip to Las Vegas! I'll be heading to Sin City at a very ungodly hour on Thursday, and I won't be back till the following Monday. Can't wait to get out of this frozen tundra country for a while! Wishing everyone as wonderful and wild a week as mine undoubtedly will be! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #104!

Good Sunday morning, my dears! Happy February! Can't believe we're already a month into 2015! Let's not waste another moment and get this show on the road!

Here's the blurb for Adventures in Online Dating: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE.

She took his hand and stood, marveling at the warmth radiating from his palm. He shuffled their bodies until he was directly behind her. His hands held both of hers now, palm-up. Other patrons in the shop were looking at the curious display, but she didn’t give a damn. All she cared about was the heat of his body pressing against hers, and how safe she felt in his arms.
“You forgot to tell me one of the other perks of juggling,” she murmured.
            “What’s that?”
His hot breath stirred the hairs on the back of her neck and nearly broke her train of thought. “It’s sexy as hell.”

Well, it's currently Friday night as I'm typing this, aka: the night before my 32nd birthday extravaganza. In honour of the occasion, we're having our own version of the superbowl. I call it...super-bowling! And the only place you can do that is in a bowling alley. Or on a lawn. Lawn bowling is great fun if you've never tried it. There will also be tons of family time, hugging, eating, caking, and karaokeing. The ingredients for a perfect day, wouldn't you say? Wishing you all a fantastic week ahead! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #103!

Hellooooooooo! Happy Sunday! I'm feeling ten thousand times better today. Thanks to everyone for the well-wishes! We're continuing today with Adventures in Online Dating, so without further ado, here goes!

Blurby: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE.

“Trust me,” he said, “everyone is capable of juggling. It’s just a simple pattern you have to mold your brain into memorizing.” He grabbed a few napkins from the dispenser on the table and rolled them into balls.
Watching Charlie prepare his props and explain the art of juggling brought a smile to her face. The immense joy written in his features left her breathless. She really didn’t give a damn if juggling increased the grey matter in your brain. This man made her heart tick like a time bomb because he did care. He was so full of love and passion and energy. Imagining what his energy would be like in the bedroom increased the ticking to triple time.

We are now reaching the end of the semester at Adult High School, that dark, scary time when exams happen and marks are due and stress levels become increasingly higher as a result. Weird how they're associated. But the good news? I get to have cake in less than a week! Birthday cake! The best kind of cake there is! :) Wishing you all a productive and exciting week ahead!

Weekend Writing Warriors #102!

*cough, cough, snort* Hiya, folks. This is gonna be a quick and dirty post. I'm having my own personal Cold War with a virus I just can't shake. So let's just hop to it so I can go and crawl back under the covers again. *pretends she's not typing this from beneath the covers and that she's actually gotten out of bed today, and that she's not blowing her nose with a roll of toilet paper*

Here's the blurb for Adventures in Online Dating: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE.

“So, barring a career change, what can I do to make you feel more comfortable?”
At this point it might have been easier if he put the damn makeup back on so she’d stop thinking about licking every last one of his freckles. She needed to take the focus off her. “I’ve always wanted to learn how to juggle.”
Charlie’s eyes lit up like a kid’s on Christmas morning. “It’s a piece of cake. I bet I could teach you in ten minutes.”
“I’m not the most coordinated person, which is why my parents signed me up for piano lessons instead of Little League.”

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy week ahead! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #101!

Merry January, my friends! Hope your new year is off to a stellar start! It's been ridonculously cold here in the nation's capital, but thankfully we have steamy stories to help keep us warm, like the one I'm sharing with all of you. So let's continue then with more from Adventures in Online Dating!

            “Now you’re flirting with me.”
Oh hell yes, she was. “Well, you know...you’re, uh...not at all terrifying without the make-up, and the nose, and you, um...you’ve been good about not honking the horn.” She was horny enough without the help.
His lips quirked into a grin. “You’re a rambler too. Are you nervous?”
“Maybe a little.” Understatement of the year.

Weekend Writing Warriors #100!

Wow! This is my 100th post with the Weekend Writing Warriors! How cool is that? Almost two whole years and I've loved every minute of it! For those who missed it, the first installment of Online Mating, the steamed up/two bachelor version of Adventures in Online Dating, is now available for your viewing pleasure on SilkWords! The first round of votes has been tallied and Charlie the clown won! :) Let's see how our Charlie is doing in Adventures....

“You’re not scared anymore?”
She was scared of her big, fat, flapping mouth, but not of him. Okay, maybe a little scared at how easily she could fall into lust with a man-turned-clown-turned-man, but those dimples were an instant cure for coulrophobia. “I’m not scared.”
“I’ve never understood people’s fear of clowns. They’re so joyful, they’re always laughing, they love kids, they juggle. What’s not to love?”
“Clearly they haven’t met Charlie Clown.”

Well, tomorrow it's back to school, back to teaching. Only one month until the end of the semester. Guess I should finish this pile of marking first, eh? Oh, alright. Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead! :)
