Weekend Writing Warriors #170!

Hello, my lovelies! This is it, the final installment of Adventures in Online Dating, AND it's also the final post I'll be making on this blog! More on that shortly, but first, one last adventure!

Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's entirely up to you! :-D

And here's the final excerpt, continuing from where we left off. Please forgive the creative punctuation in places:

"Sydney, this is my pal, Mark,” Sam said.
Out of obligation, she shook Mark’s hand. The guy was cute, sure, but he was no Sam.
“I’d do anything for my buddy, Sam. You’ve got a real good guy here,” Mark said, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively, “and now that I’ve totally scored you a date, I better be off. Great to meet you, Sydney, and you’re a lucky, lucky man, Sam.”
All buffers gone, it was just Sam and her and the implications of what Mark said.
Sam broke the silence first: “I’m officially off work in half an hour. I can’t promise you there won’t be any touchy and feely, but there definitely won’t be any creepy or crowdy...You in?”
A grin nearly split her face in two, “I’m in.”

Well, that's all, folks! I'm officially retiring this blog and moving on to greener pastures. Here's my new home: http://julieevelynjoyce.com/. I'll still be participating in the WWW, but it'll be under my actual name, Julie Evelyn Joyce. So be on the lookout for that! I know many of you have expressed interest in this story and have wanted your own copy. It was something I wrote originally for a particular publisher, but we ended up going a different route with the story, so this one has always been sitting on the back burner. I think at some point I'll self-publish it, and when the time comes, I'll let you all know! Thank you, thank you for your endless support! Much love to you all! xoxo

Weekend Writing Warriors #169!

Greetings and salutations! This will be my second last post as the author formerly known as Evelyn Jules. Next week, after the excerpt, I'll share a link to my new digs! As for now, hope you enjoy the penultimate installment of Adventures in Online Dating!

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

            “Listen, babe, I’m gonna take off. I’ll call ya, okay?”
            “Oh, sure, okay.” She smiled brightly, giving no indication that she planned on blocking his number the second he left.
            He practically leaped over the table and dashed out of the building so fast, he would have looked guilty of something even if he wasn’t. Not that he was, necessarily...unless giving her the creeps counted. As soon as Sam and his smiling face swam into focus, all thoughts of cons, past and present, fell away.
“You are officially my hero,” she gushed, clutching her heart as his grin inched into delicious territory.
“Here’s your real hero,” Sam said, indicating his uniformed friend. The man perked up and joined them at her table.

I'm back in Ottawa now after spending a fabulous week with my Dad at home. I visited with relatives on both sides of the family, enjoyed tons of quality time with my baby nephew (who's looking more and more like a little boy every day *sniffles*), and I finally got my new blog up and running, thanks to my tech-savvy bro! Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #168!

Hi, all! Happy Sunday to you! :) I have a few final excerpts from Adventures in Online Dating to share, so here goes!

Le blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

Minutes (that felt like hours) later, Sam gave her the thumbs up signal from behind the counter. She turned to the entrance and spotted a uniformed officer entering the shop. Collin visibly tensed.
            “You okay?” Sydney asked, biting back a chuckle.
            “Uh…I might, uh, need to split.”
            The officer weaved his way through the tables, moving ever-closer to theirs. Collin’s knees bounced and his breathing grew laboured. He kept a laser eye on the man in dark blue. She had a feeling the cop would spook him, but this reaction was more than a little troubling. It made her wonder if the guy had a few outstanding arrest warrants, but, thankfully, she didn’t have to wonder too long.

Today we're off to our first family reunion of the summer. Dad and I spent yesterday afternoon making Mom's famous baked beans and her chocolate chunk brownies. It'll be a tough day to get through without her, but I know she'll be proud to see her traditions living on. Dad and I made a great team in the kitchen. :) Wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead! Many thanks, as always, for your love and support! xoxo

Weekend Writing Warriors #167!

Hello, my friends! Happy Sunday and Happy Father's Day to all the daddies out there! My gift to you - more Adventures in Online Dating!

Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

            “What might what be?” Collin asked as he weaved his way between the two and slithered up next to her again, like the snake that he was.
            Sydney stuttered, “Oh, uh…the, um, coffee flavor of the month.”
            “Irish cream,” Sam replied without missing a beat. Mmm. Maybe Sam was part Irish. She certainly felt like doing a jig when he shot her a wink before slipping away with the promise of preparing her order to her exact specifications. Collin had no idea what was in store. She just hoped Sam made it all happen right quick, 'cause touchy-feely man picked up where he left off, and she could only hold back her gag reflex for so long.

I just finished my last week of teaching for the semester, and now we're entering exam/marking/report card week. Not fun for the students, but even less fun for the teachers. I finally see the light, though! I got to FaceTime with my dad this morning (the best daddy in the world) who's at my brother's place, spending quality time with baby Charlie. It's a test run for him, since he and I are on babysitting duty next weekend. Wish us luck! Have a fabulous week, everyone!

Weekend Writing Warriors #166!

Hello, all you beautiful people! Happy Sunday! I've got just a few more posts from Adventures in Online Dating to share, so without further ado, let's get to it!

Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:
“As much as I’d love to whip out my Jackie Chan moves on this loser, I’d rather not end up in the slammer too, but I have an idea.”
            The sound of angels singing couldn’t have been any sweeter. “Let’s hear it.”
            Sam quickly explained his plan, both of them keeping an eye out for the ex-con. “He works in this area, so it shouldn’t take him long to get here.”
            “If this is successful, you are getting the biggest tip imaginable”
            He smiled. “I’ve got something else in mind.”
            “Oh?” she asked flirtatiously. “What might that be?”

I have one week left of teaching, then exams, and then I'm off for the summer! Boy, do I ever need this break. I'm gonna spend lots of time with my family, the BF, and my friends. Whatever spare time I have left I'll be using to write, write, and write some more! I hope to finish another project that's in the works by the end of the summer. Now, the only thing missing is our summer-like weather. Wishing all of you a beautiful, sunshiny week ahead! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #165!

Hi, gang. Hope you're all having a great weekend. Get ready to jump back in to more Adventures in Online Dating! :)

Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

“Are you not enjoying the…coffee?” Sam asked, his eyes subtly darting to her oblivious tablemate.
            “It’s a bit, um…astringent for my taste.”
            Sam nodded. “Well, let me see if I can—”
            “Be right back,” Collin interrupted as he stood. “Grab me a coffee, man,” he said to Sam. “Black.”
            Once Collin was a safe distance away, Syd grabbed Sam’s arm and spoke urgently, “He’s creepy and crowdy and touchy and feely, and did I mention the guy’s been to jail? ‘Cause he has! So now would be a really good time to put that black belt of yours to good use.”

I'm sad to say that my family experienced another tremendous loss this past week. My dear, sweet grandpa passed away on Wednesday morning, after 96 blissful years of life. We're all finding comfort in the fact that he died peacefully in his sleep, and, better still, he's with my mom (his daughter) in Heaven now. I've been at home with family, and we're all pulling together yet again to help each other through this difficult time. He was such a kind, generous, hard-working, and happy man who loved being alive, adored his family, and had a wonderful sense of humour. We'll miss him terribly, but he's having one heck of a reunion in the sky right now. Wishing all of you a fabulous week ahead. Hug your loved ones and enjoy every moment of this precious life.

Weekend Writing Warriors #164!

Hello, all you beautiful people! Happy Sunday of a much-needed long weekend! How about some Adventures in Online Dating to liven up your day? Okay!

Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

Super. She could now add ‘divorcé’ to this guy’s ever-growing list of attributes.
            “But enough about me. I wanna know all about you, and how exactly a lady as fine as yourself can end up on a singles site.”
            She could lie and tell him she wasn’t single after all. That this was just a big misunderstanding, a mistake. But the guy was sitting so near to her she could feel his breath on her face, and it was probably best not to poke an ex-con in such close proximity. Finally, she caught Sam out of the corner of her eye. She flagged him down, relieved when he spun on his heel and approached their table. Sydney raised her mug in front of her lips to prevent her date from seeing her mouth the words ‘Help Me’ to the alarmed barista.

It's soooo nice having a long weekend finally, and I'm making the most of it. I'm eating loads of ice cream, reading, writing, and enjoying the beautiful sunshine whenever possible. Hope you're doing the same, particularly the part about the ice cream! ;) Have a wonderful week, my friends!

Weekend Writing Warriors #163!

Hello, my friends. Happy Sunday and happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. My gift to you: Adventures in Online Dating!

Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

Collin scooted ever-closer to her. She should just ask him what he did, what crime he committed. He’s the one who brought up his criminal record, so it’s not like it was an out of the blue question. Gulping a breath, she blurted, “Di-did you kill someone?”
            Startled, he leaned back, blinking several times, and then he laughed. “Little less gruesome than that, sweetheart. Home invasion. Someone had some stuff of mine, I wanted it back, so I went about getting it my own way.”
            “How did that…someone get your stuff?”
            “Damn lawyers gave it to her in the divorce.”

I'll be spending the day with my family, having a belated birthday celebration for my dad, and taking some time to share our memories of Mom. It's gonna be a difficult day, without question, but being together will make it infinitely easier. Hug your moms tight today, my friends. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #162!

Hello, my friends! So glad to have you here. It's time for more Adventures in Online Dating!

Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

Anymore? Did they ever? A chill ran down her spine as she contemplated what exactly this guy got thrown into the slammer for. Well, maybe it wasn’t a serious crime. It could have been something as harmless as tax evasion…or public indecency. She cocked her head, inspecting his outward appearance. He was fully-clothed, and nothing was unexpectedly poking out, thank the Lord.
            “Like what you see?” he asked, shooting her a wink.
            Her gaze shifted to the counter where she desperately sought out Sam. Where the hell are you, barista boy?

The last couple weeks have been tough for me. Seeing all the Mother's Day commercials on TV and cards in the stores has made me miss my mommy more than ever. I found myself stopping to read a few cards today, just so I could hypothetically choose the one I would have purchased for her. Inevitably, the waterworks came. When I left the store, it was nearing dinner time so I stopped at my favorite wing place to get a take-out order. The girl working there must have noticed my eyes looked a bit bloodshot. She couldn't have been sweeter to me, and when my order was packed and ready to go, she said, "Take care of yourself." Although some days are more difficult than others, it's the little things like this that go a long way. You can always depend on the kindness of strangers. :) And on that note, enjoy your week ahead, my friends!

Weekend Writing Warriors #161!

Hiya, friends! Welcome back! We'll just jump right into another excerpt from Adventures in Online Dating, so hold on for the ride!

Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

“Uh, thanks, I think.”
            He chuckled. “Well, ya know, ya don’t see a lot of folks of the female persuasion when you’re on the inside, but you make being a free man feel pretty damn good.”
            Jesus. Did that mean what she thought it meant? “You mean ‘free’ as in single…right?” Please, God, let me be right, or let me be carrying some pepper spray…
            “’Course I’m single.”
            Her held breath came out in a whoosh.
            “Surprisingly, most chicks don’t find a guy with a criminal record appealing anymore.”

I spent a wonderful day yesterday with the BF, hiking through the hills of Gatineau Park, Quebec. It was such a beautiful, sunshiny day, and we had a wonderful time, though I think 10 km was a tad ambitious. It might be the reason why I'm having trouble getting out of bed this morning. However, it was totally worth it in order to earn the giant pizza we shared for dinner...followed by a giant chocolate bar. :D Have a wonderful week, all!

Weekend Writing Warriors #160!

Greetings, friends and warriors! Welcome back! I'll be sharing a few final excerpts from Adventures in Online Dating, so enjoy 'em while they last!

Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

“C’mon,” he said, his hand still on her arm. “We’ll grab a seat at the corner table. It’s more private.”
            She obediently did as he said, wondering just how bold and blunt the man would be in a more secluded setting. Sydney took a seat, expecting him to sit across from her like most guys would do on a first date. But not this guy. Instead, he dragged his chair to within inches of hers, crowding her in a way that strangely felt more inviting than invasive.
            “Hey, you know what?” he asked as he tucked a tendril of hair behind her ear. “You are the sexiest woman I’ve seen in thirteen years.”
            How...specific.

Last Sunday I had the pleasure of attending my baby nephew's first birthday party, during which time I witnessed enough baby hugs to make my ovaries burst. Cuteness overload! Also, since there were so many babies on the premises, it was essentially a germ factory. I'm surprised I only managed to catch a cold once the festivities concluded, but it was worth it just to be there to help my sweet boy celebrate being on this Earth for a whole year. Besides the cold, I'm feeling much better these days, both emotionally and physically. Again, I can't thank you all enough for the support you've given me these past several weeks. I finally have a Sunday off so I'll be making the rounds today! Wishing everyone a fantastic week ahead! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #159!

Hello, my dear friends. Thanks again for all the support you've shown me during these difficult weeks. You're a fabulous group of people and I'm grateful to know you. :) Here's more from Adventures in Online Dating!

But first, le blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

“Hey, pretty lady,” he said in a husky voice. A voice that was a perfect freakin’ match for his body. Sexy texts were one thing, but until you officially met a guy, there was no telling what he’d sound like. Collin’s voice was like foreplay. It made her knees weak and her toes tingle. And he called her pretty, and he was rubbing her upper arm with his strong, manly hand. And she hadn’t said a thing in response.
            “Huh—iii. Hi. Hey, Collin.”

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

I'm sad to report that we lost another member of our family. My sweet great-uncle Jack, who was a wonderfully kind, generous, intelligent, and creative man. The funeral was yesterday, at the same place we had my mom's funeral, and they used the same minister too. She did such a fantastic job for us the last time, so we had to get her again. It was comforting seeing her, as well as many of my relatives. Although Jack lived a long (91 years) and glorious life, he died unexpectedly in a car accident, and this serves as yet another reminder of how precious each and every day is. I wish you all a safe, happy, and healthy week, my friends. xo

Weekend Writing Warriors #158!

I want to thank all of you so, so much for your kind words last week. I appreciate it more than you'll ever know. Sending my love and thoughts back to everyone, especially those who've lost their moms (or dads) too. Sometimes it's comforting simply knowing that I'm not alone, and that I'll survive this, just as you have. *hugs* to all.

Here's the blurb for Adventures in Online DatingAfter too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE.

Sam took that as his cue to exit stage left, but before he did, he said, “He gives you any trouble, you let me know. I have my black belt.”
            Great. As if he wasn’t already perfect. “I definitely, definitely will.”
            Shooting her a wink, he disappeared into the kitchen. She was half-tempted to launch herself over the counter and chase after him, when a heavy hand landed on her shoulder. Turning on her stool, she came face to chest with a big, bulky, muscular man. Slowly raising her gaze, she found herself staring into dark green eyes that darkened even further when she swallowed. Collin.

Today's the last day of my March break. It's been a wonderful time spent with friends and family. The BF took a bus down to see us on Friday and meet some of the extended family, but the flu decided to visit me too. I left little deposits all along the highway yesterday during our drive back to Dad's place, and yeah, I felt awful, but you know the best part? My two guys took wonderful care of me. They couldn't have been better nurses. As much as I miss my mom, she would have been so proud of how they handled the situation. :) I wish you all a fabulous, germ-free week ahead! xo

Weekend Writing Warriors #157!

Hello, my dear friends. Sorry I've been AWOL as of late. I'm in the process of revamping myself as an author, which I'd planned to do even before life threw a major curve ball at me (more on that shortly), so this will be one of my last posts as Evelyn Jules. I'll let you know when the switcheroo happens and I start posting under my new name (my actual name), Julie Evelyn Joyce. I'll have a new blog to show off soon, too. :)

For now, enjoy another excerpt from Adventures in Online Dating, continuing from where we left off:

Points for the guy in the apron. “That is me…I mean, yeah. Yes...you’re right.
            The smile never left his face, making the man even more irresistible in an infuriating sort of way, because she wasn’t technically here to see him and he was making himself awfully appealing. “Got another hot date lined up?” he asked, as though he had every damn right in the world.
            Trouble was, she did have a date lined up, otherwise she’d happily camp out at the counter and stare at the pretty barista all day. As if somehow sensing her urge to ogle another man, her phone vibrated with a text from Collin, her date du jour, telling her he’d snagged a parking spot and was on his way in. “Bring on bachelor number three,” she mumbled.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by, and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

So...yeah. About that curve ball. I unexpectedly lost my mom a little over a month ago. As many of you know, particularly those of you who read my posts regularly, my family means the world to me. And my mom was my dearest friend in the world. It's been extremely hard adjusting to this new 'normal'. I just try to take it one day at a time. I'm turning more than ever to friends and family, seeking comfort in their support and their cherished memories of my mother. Life will go on, as it does, and amazing things will happen. I'm sure I'll get married, have kids of my own, and accomplish things I never even dreamed were possible, but deep in my heart I'll know it's because Mom is here with me, loving me, guiding me, and giving me the strength to face every challenge that stands in my way. Thanks to all of you for the support, and for being such wonderful friends. Give your loved ones a hug today. xoxo

Weekend Writing Warriors #156!

Greetings, friends, fellow writers, and readers! You know what today is? Sunday! It's also my birthday! Here, have a present!

Here's the blurb for Adventures in Online Dating: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE.

Moments later her coffee was delivered. She snatched it up, murmuring, “Gimme,” before taking a much-needed gulp.
            A deliciously masculine laugh floated into her ears. “Awfully demanding. You treat your men like you treat your coffee?”
            Her head jerked up and she locked eyes with the super-sexy barista from her last visit. The new guy. “Sam…right?” As if she didn’t know.
            He beamed, clearly pleased she remembered his name.

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

So...I'm off to celebrate my birthday now with the BF and his folks. For those who missed my post last week, he's had his surgery for the broken humerus bone, and it went very well. I'll be there to kiss it better today. :) Wishing all of you a wonderful, exciting week ahead! Mine certainly will be, but I'll tell you more about that next week!

Weekend Writing Warriors #155!

Hello, friends! Happy Sunday! Here's more from Adventures in Online Dating!

Blurby blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

Her fingernails danced against the tabletop. She glanced toward the washroom. Taking a long drink of her lukewarm coffee, she rose to her feet.
~~~
Sydney strode along the sidewalk, the wind tossing her hair like every ounce of product she’d scrunched, teased, and twisted into it was weightless. The bells jingled as she entered the glassed-in building, back again once more at the infamous coffee shop. Collin had texted to say he was stuck in traffic and running a bit late, so she slipped onto a stool at the counter and ordered a coffee while she waited. She’d tossed and turned all night about the way she’d ended things with Charlie. Low and behold, the always-chipper clown had sent a text this morning that worked wonders on her conscience. He thanked her for the napkin note, assured her there were no hard feelings, and said that if she ever needed to hire a clown, he’d give her the 50% off friends rebate. Maybe she’d missed the boat with him...or clown car.
Well, I've had quite the week, my friends. This past Wednesday, during his debut game on my dodgeball team, the BF threw a ball SO hard he broke his arm. Not kidding. We all heard the snap, and I somehow snapped to and called 911. After hours of agony in the ER, we were told he'd broken his humerus (upper arm bone) right in half. Needless to say, there's nothing humorous about the pain involved, but, man, is he ever a trooper. Right now he's taking it easy at his dad's place until his surgery this Wednesday. I spent most of the day yesterday with him, showering him with healing hugs and smooches. All good thoughts are welcome. :) Everyone enjoy a safe and happy week ahead!
Weekend Writing Warriors #154!
Hello, all you lovely people! Happy Sunday! Here's more from Adventures in Online Dating!
Le blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D
And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:
She read his first text, her cheeks flaming at the blatant flirtation, and the second was just as suggestive. In the third, he flat out told her to drop any plans she might have and meet up with him ASAP. Her hormones were in overdrive. Charlie seemed like the type who took things slow, besides dive-bombing strangers with hugs. Collin knew what he wanted and wasn’t shy about saying so. Sometimes a woman found that damn appealing...which is why she was considering bolting.
            If she left now, she could start fresh with Collin. Charlie wouldn’t need to know. Besides, the very idea that she could ever bring herself to love a clown was preposterous. If she stayed, she’d give the clown false hope.
We are now entering the final week of school before exams and the end of the first semester at Adult High School. Sadly, when the semester officially ends, I'll be moving on to another school. As much as it saddens me to leave the school I've called home for over a year now, I'm excited to begin a new adventure someplace else. And every new school I get to teach in helps me to narrow down where I'll want to end up working when I've put in enough time for a highly coveted contract. :) In the meantime, I wish you all a fabulous week ahead!
Weekend Writing Warriors #153!
Merry January, my friends! As promised, I'm continuing today with Adventures in Online Dating, only we're picking up in an earlier part of Syd's adventuring, when Charlie the clown came upon the scene. I can hear Veronica Scott clapping her hands as I type this. ;)
Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D
And here's an excerpt, picking up near the end of their date. Charlie's excused himself to wash off the grease paint since Syd's terrified of clowns....
            Sydney giggled at the absurd man in blue jeans and clown make-up. She had to admit, he had a nice little wiggle to his walk. Maybe he was a wannabe Wiggle. Despite all his quirks, one thing was undeniable: Charlie was a good guy. If she could get past the makeup, the alarming amount of energy, and his tendency to ramble, he could even be the guy.
            Her purse vibrated, interrupting her thoughts. She reached inside to retrieve her cell phone and punched in her password. Three texts were waiting for her, all from the same guy. Collin, bachelor number three--the one she failed to mention to Grace. There were a few reasons for that, the main one being that his profile contained less than 100 words of effort, and she knew next to nothing about him, other than the fact that he was a blond-haired, blue-eyed sex magnet.
Well, despite the cold weather, January is my favourite of all months. Might have something to do with the fact that my birthday falls near the end of it. But, as it turns out, less than a week separates mine and the BF's birthdays. So we're planning on a co-celebration, one just for us, and one with family. Bowling will most certainly be on the agenda for my part of the planning. And there will be no mercy. Competitive? Moi? Have a marvelous week! :)
Weekend Writing Warriors #152!
Hello, friends! Happy New Year! Here's hoping 2016 is sweet as can be! :) Let's kick off the year with more Adventures in Online Dating!
Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D
And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:
“Thank you.” She slid her palms up his chest then wrapped her arms around his neck. The simplicity of the statement couldn’t hide the significance behind it. He’d saved her the humiliation from her date with a douche bag, torn up her parking ticket, and made her feel wanted again. “Thank you for everything.”
            He tilted his head, and the smile that never quite left his face spread a little wider. “My pleasure.”
And thus, we end another adventure! Next week we'll pick up where we left off before Syd decided to give Charlie the clown a chance. There's another guy who's too persistent to be ignored. ;)
Well, I'm typing this up on Friday night, and I'm all nervous and excited because tomorrow the BF is coming to stay at my parents' place for the weekend, where he'll meet my bro, sister-in-law, and baby nephew for the first time. We've spent all day cleaning and prepping for his impending arrival. The games have been gathered, the karaoke machine is fired up, and the massive quantities of food are ready to be consumed. I'll let you know how it goes next weekend! Wishing all of you a wonderful week/year ahead!!!
