Weekend Writing Warriors #21!

Hellooooo there! Happy Canada Day weekend to all my fellow Canucks out there, and to everyone else, happy Sunday! In honour of Canada's 146th birthday, I decided to share an excerpt from my hockey story, Body Check. I think you all know how important hockey is to us Northern folk.

I actually have a blurb for this story now. Check it out!

Alicia Holden is the ultimate hockey fan. She eats, sleeps, and breathes the game, but there's one real reason for her devotion. And his name is Mike Converset. When an opportunity comes along to win a charity dinner with her hockey heartthrob, she leaps at the chance.

He's absolutely nothing like she imagined. Rough, tough, and in no mood to impress, Mike assumes Alicia's like every other woman who's come into his life, but he soon learns she's so much more. They share a connection that brings them closer together in mind and body. But is their romantic encounter simply a one-night stand, or can they take their passion into overtime?

And here's the excerpt:

He laughed but quickly sobered as her ankles locked around his lower back. She knew it wouldn’t be slow. Her fingers clung to the headboard to help keep her grounded. She knew it wouldn’t be gentle. The mountain of pillows behind her gave her the confidence to push back just as hard. But he made love like he meant it, and now that she knew the man behind the uniform, she could see how passion was a constant in his life.
Her heels dug into his ass. She groaned for every grunt and moaned for every growl.

Hope you enjoyed! Thanks so much for stopping by and make sure you pay a visit to the other Weekend Writing Warriors! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #20!

Hey, folks! Happy Summer! Hope you've been lounging in the sun, enjoying the warm weather! Summer to me means I now have permission to eat ice cream and lots of it. I actually brought home three adorable mini containers of Haagen-Dazs from the store the other day (they were like a million percent off, btw), and I proceeded to eat them. All three of them. Simultaneously. It was like an ice cream orgy. Delicious.

Speaking of delicious things, let's continue this week with another excerpt from my mime/clown love story, All Action, No Talk!

A part of her wanted to keep his voice all to herself. But if it meant sharing his voice to save her from making a mistake of monumental proportions, she was willing to do it. Just this once. “And you look….”

He smiled and tugged at his collar with his free hand. “I hate these clothes. I feel ridiculous.”

She squeezed his fingers. “I totally know what you mean.”

Here's the blurb:

Alice Moore is a clown . . . in love with a mime.

Her parents have never approved of her circus-oriented lifestyle and in effort to deter her from wasting her life clowning around, they set her up with family friend, Grant Humphrey. A practical man. A businessman. And the last man on earth she wants to marry, but here she is, marching down the aisle toward him.

Alex Holiday is a mime . . . in love with a clown.

He’s silently followed Alice from venue to venue on the circus circuit, working alongside her, worshiping her in secret. He’s never been able to tell her how he feels . . . until now. When he catches wind of the upcoming wedding, he vows to put a stop to it. But will his objection be too late?

If you'd like to get yourself a copy, check out Amazon or the Turquoise Morning Press bookstore! :) Oh, and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors too! Have a fabulous Sunday, my friends! And eat as much ice cream as you want! :D

Weekend Writing Warriors #19!

Hellooooooo! Happy Father's Day to all the fabulous dads out there, my own included! My daddy is my partner in crime. We have secret handshakes, finger snapping wars, we take dishwasher steam baths, and we dance while the washing machine is in its spin cycle. Basically, we're two peas in a very bizarre pod, and we're pretty proud of it. :D

Today I'm going to share another snippet from my mime/clown love story, All Action, No Talk, featured in The Wedding Day Collection (which is now available!) Links to follow.

She gasped but she didn’t pull away. She felt herself sinking more into his warmth, into the safety of the familiar. Tilting her head, she murmured into his ear, “Object.”
“What?”
They met eyes. “I need you to object.”
“But that means I’ll have to…in front of everyone.”
“I love the sound of your voice,” she admitted.

Weekend Writing Warriors #18!

So apparently June has decided that it wants to kill me. This month is chaaaaooos, people! Complete and utter insanity! I am busy to the extreme! My brother's wedding last weekend was a smashing success, btw. I got smashed...Success! :D All it took was one glass of champagne and half a glass of wine. Oh, and a Shirely Temple. Also, I was told by at least 18 people that my speech was the best. True story. This weekend I'm in Cincinnati, Ohio for the Lori Foster RAGT. If you're in the area, be sure to swing by the Cincinnati Marriott North for a little one-on-one with yours truly.

In the meantime, have a gander at another eight from my soon-to-be-released clown/mime love story, 'All Action, No Talk', featured in The Wedding Day Collection!

“Yes.”

A slow smile spread across her face. “You can talk.” She covered her mouth when a giddy laugh escaped.

Clasping the hand that still pressed to his chest, he whispered, “Don’t blow my cover.” She nodded, hypnotized by the color of his eyes from up close—aquamarine with flecks of copper and gold. Like an ocean filled with treasures. “And don’t marry that guy.”

Weekend Writing Warriors #17!

Hello there and happy Sunday, my friends! I probably won't be around much today because my one and only brother's wedding was yesterday! I'm typing this four days ahead of schedule, by the way. So I can only guess that I had an amazing time, and that I was the life of the party, and that I drank champagne irresponsibly. Since I'm in a wedding mood, here's more of my story, 'All Action, No Talk', from The Wedding Day Collection!

Through layers of clothing, she could feel his heart beating. “I can feel you.”
“Yes.”
The word washed over her in a rush. For a moment, she doubted whether she’d actually heard it. Her eyes flashed to his when his chest stopped rising against her palm. “Did you, uh….”
Red clung to the tips of his ears and the apples of his cheeks.
