Weekend Writing Warriors #142!

Hello again, hello! Happy Sunday! The days are getting shorter, and night is falling sooner, so here's more from Adventures in Online Dating to brighten things up!

Blurby blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And now for an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:
“The guy’s obviously an idiot.”
“Yeah,” she grumbled, “an idiot who got away without a parking ticket.”
His fingers brushed against hers as he took the ticket from her hand and tore it up, just like that. The grin on his face had her hooha doing the cha-cha.
“You tore up the ticket,” she whispered in disbelief. “I can’t believe you did that.” The guy was a saint--an adorable, loveable, dateable saint. “You really shouldn’t have done that.”
“Would you prefer I write you a new one? I think I saw you jaywalking when you crossed the street.”

I figured I'd give you all a quick update on my own personal dating life. I'm still seeing the same guy. We've been together for about a month and a half and things are going wonderfully! Just this past Wednesday, our dodgeball teams (yes, we play on separate dodgeball teams in the same league) faced off against each other in an epic throw-down showdown. My team didn't simply win, we obliterated them by a score of 15-4. But don't worry about my guy's morale. I made sure to kiss his bruised ego better after the game. ;) Hope the rest of you have a fantastic, fun-filled week ahead!

Weekend Writing Warriors #141!

Hello you crazy people! I'm slightly tipsy right now as I type this at 2:29 in the AM. Wedding receptions at wineries tend to be quite heavy on the alcohol. Word to the wise. Oh, and yes, I've been at a wedding! More on that later. First, here's more from Adventures in Online Dating!

Le blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

Aaaand an excerpt, continuing from where we left off. Sydney just asked if Officer Patrick could let her off the hook for paying her parking ticket.

I’ll buy you a cup of coffee,” she offered with a wink. Oh God, was she flirting with this guy? So he was totally cute, and single...maybe. Well, he didn’t have a ring on his finger, and yes, she’d noticed that. But she wasn’t this girl. She was a good, honest, upright citizen who paid her dues and her fines...not that she was in the practice of receiving fines....
“How do you know I won’t walk out on you?”
            “Ouch.”
Patrick laughed again before the punch to the gut could settle. “I’m kidding,” he said.

So yeah. I've been in the lovely Niagara region for a fabulous wedding weekend with my teachers college peeps! This area is always beautiful and scenic, but add in the fall colours and it's nothing short of spectacular. The food was exquisite, the company even better, and my feet are aching from all the dancing. In short, it was a smashing success, despite the fact that I failed to catch the bouquet. Ah well. I caught the bouquet in the previous three weddings I attended, and no weddings of my own resulted. Maybe it's better luck to NOT catch it. Speaking of catching things, since I'll be driving most of the day, I'll catch up with all of you later this week! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #140!

Hiiiiii! It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canuckland! I'm thankful for a lot of things--my family, my health, all the incredible opportunities I've been given, and each and every one of you lovely people. Thanks for your endless support and enthusiasm! I'm also thankful for words and being able to express them, so without further ado, I'll share some with you!

Here's the blurb for Adventures in Online Dating: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

In the last excerpt, Mr. Parking Enforcement Officer told Syd that she should have put money in her own meter and worried less about her date's. We'll continue from there in 3, 2, 1....

“That’s completely beside the point.”
He laughed long and hard as he took a step closer. “Not to me.”
Now that he stood in front of her, she finally looked him over--tall and tan and young, but not too young, and yummy. His eyes were green with flecks of gold, warm and inviting. Freckles dotted his nose and the tops of his cheeks, lucky whiskers outlined his mouth, and lips that looked softer than rose petals curved upwards. The sound of his melodic laughter still floated in her ears and enticed a smile that was beyond her control. “Officer....”
            “Patrick,” he supplied.
“Patrick, um, could you find it in your heart to let me off the hook this one time?

Weekend Writing Warriors #139!

Greetings, dear friends! Welcome back to another exciting weekend of reading, writing, and warrior-ing! It's time once again for more Adventures in Online Dating!

Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

“Just doin’ my job, ma’am, I don’t set the fines.”
God help Joe if she found him now. She’d make the little twerp pay for the ticket with his allowance. “This is the worst day of my life.” Sydney collapsed against the hood of her car with a defeated sigh.
            “Plenty of people get tickets.”
Ignoring him, she rattled on, “I mean, first, I’m forced to sit through a date with Clueless Joe, the vegan, tattooed gamer, while drinking the crappiest coffee of my life, and then the jerk just walks out on me! I mean, who does that? He claims he was putting more money is his parking meter, but he never came back.
“Maybe you shoulda put more money in yours too.”

Well, the man makes a fair point. lol. Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

Just one more week to go until our Canadian Thanksgiving! I always look forward to a long weekend, and I'm especially looking forward to spending this one with family. The food is just icing on the cake. Oh, and there will actually BE cake because we're belatedly celebrating three September birthdays! Woohoo! Wishing everyone a fabulous week ahead! :)
