Weekend Writing Warriors #147!

Well, my friends, I must apologize for last week. I had my post all ready to go and forgot the one tiny detail of actually signing up on the linky list. So, if you'd like to catch up with what you missed last week, feel free to scroll down to the previous post. If you don't mind skipping ahead, read on!

Here's the blurb for Adventures in Online Dating: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

“You’re on.” Butterflies belly flopped in her stomach. When he let go of her hip and pressed his palm to her lower back instead, she purred. She walked in step with him, smiling all the while because he wanted her to stay with him. He wanted to have coffee with her--real coffee, not that black sludge of death. He was a good, hearty, healthy, meat-eating kind of manly man; at least he looked that way.
            “You eat meat, right?”
He stopped walking and turned to her with a curious grin. “I’m a carnivore and proud of it.”
            “God bless you.”

So, just to go off of my post last week, the fella I'm relationshipping with met my parents, as scheduled. We went out for dinner together. Mom didn't mention anything about weddings or babies. Dad only ordered one dessert and kept the embarrassing stories to a minimum. And my guy couldn't have been more charming. Suffice it to say, everyone left with full tummies and happy hearts. :) Wishing all of you a wonderful week ahead!

Weekend Writing Warriors #146!

Howdy, folks! It's a beautiful day for a date, wouldn't you say? Let's see what's happening in Adventures in Online Dating!

Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE.

“I play the piano professionally.”
“Oh really? I’ve always wanted to learn.”
“I offer private lessons.” The playful lift of her eyebrows conveyed she was willing to offer more than a chance at tickling the ivories.
The curve of his mouth proved that he’d caught the innuendo—hook, line, and sinker. “I’m off duty in half an hour. If you don’t mind sticking around, I’ll take you up on that coffee. My treat, though.”

Soooo today is a very big day, my friends. I'm going on a double date...with my parents. Yep, they will be meeting my guy for the first time. We've been dating for close to three months now, and that might as well be a lifetime where I'm concerned. My relationships don't usually last as long as a half-hour sitcom. This one is beating the odds! I think we're gonna make it! I hope! Well, everybody cross your fingers just in case. :D Have a wonderful day/week ahead!

Weekend Writing Warriors #145!

Hey there, gang! Hope you're all doing well. Without further ado, let's jump back into Adventures in Online Dating!

Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE.

He placed a hand on her hip. “Whoa, you okay?”
And now her hip was on fire because the man's hand was hotter than a three dollar pistol. “Yeah, I’m good, thanks.” Why couldn’t she just lie and let him keep touching her? Except, even with her confirmation that she was able to stand on her own two feet, he didn’t seem to be in any hurry to let her go. Good sign, very good sign.
“So you scare off your dates, you flirt your way out of parking tickets, and you steal expensive pens. What do you do in your spare time?”
Giddy laughter burst from her throat.

Well, it's that dreaded time of year for a teacher: report card season. Stress ball, thy name is Evelyn. Marks are due by 4 PM tomorrow. It'll get them in, as always, but it won't be pretty. And a lot of chocolate will be consumed. And then I'll do it all over again at the end of January. Life is funny that way. ;) Wishing all of you a very stress-free week ahead!

Weekend Writing Warriors #144!

Hiya, folks! Hope you're all doing well! Let's jump back into Adventures in Online Dating!

Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE.

“Well, considering I tore up your ticket and let you have my pen, I think you at least owe me your name.”
She lifted her gaze to a more appropriate level and stretched out her hand. “Sydney.” His warm palm met hers and held it securely for long seconds. Their gazes held for just as long.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Sydney.”
Goosebumps. The feel of his hand and the sound of his voice and the fact that he wouldn’t stop staring at her...Like her body had a choice in the matter--of course it reacted. When he let her go, she swayed slightly and reached for his sleeve to steady herself.

Well, you guys, I just celebrated two months with my fella on Friday night! All week long I've been having my own cold war, but the cold finally won and sealed the victory with a cough. But all those germies couldn't keep my guy away. He stopped by last night and brought me homemade stew, tiramisu, and popsicles. He's a keeper for sure, eh? Wishing you all a great, germ-free week ahead! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #143!

Hi there! Happy November, my friends! Let's kick off this month with more from Adventures in Online Dating!

Le blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE.

She pushed to her feet and met him on the edge of the sidewalk. With a sassy smirk, she plucked the pen out of his shirt pocket and waved it tauntingly. “That might be hard to do without your trusty pen here.”
“You don’t think I have other pens?”
“You might, but not as nice as this one I’ll bet...because this is a really nice pen.”
Patrick shook his head and chuckled. “It’s a fountain pen, worth more than the ticket woulda been.”
            “The pen is mightier.”
He rocked back on his heels and shoved his hands into his pockets, and her eyes found themselves glued to his movements. And her mind wondered how mighty his other pen might be.

Today is a very special day, besides being the first day of November and the day after Halloween. It's my grandpa's 96th birthday! He's absolutely amazing for 96. The sweetest, kindest, gentlest man I know. He loves to share stories about the good old days, loves to eat fish and chips and big breakfasts, loves to sing, and he loves to tell jokes. I know I got my sense of humour from him, and I have his eyes too. Hope everyone enjoys their day as much as I'm certain my grandpa will! :)

Weekend Writing Warriors #142!

Hello again, hello! Happy Sunday! The days are getting shorter, and night is falling sooner, so here's more from Adventures in Online Dating to brighten things up!

Blurby blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And now for an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:
“The guy’s obviously an idiot.”
“Yeah,” she grumbled, “an idiot who got away without a parking ticket.”
His fingers brushed against hers as he took the ticket from her hand and tore it up, just like that. The grin on his face had her hooha doing the cha-cha.
“You tore up the ticket,” she whispered in disbelief. “I can’t believe you did that.” The guy was a saint--an adorable, loveable, dateable saint. “You really shouldn’t have done that.”
“Would you prefer I write you a new one? I think I saw you jaywalking when you crossed the street.”

I figured I'd give you all a quick update on my own personal dating life. I'm still seeing the same guy. We've been together for about a month and a half and things are going wonderfully! Just this past Wednesday, our dodgeball teams (yes, we play on separate dodgeball teams in the same league) faced off against each other in an epic throw-down showdown. My team didn't simply win, we obliterated them by a score of 15-4. But don't worry about my guy's morale. I made sure to kiss his bruised ego better after the game. ;) Hope the rest of you have a fantastic, fun-filled week ahead!

Weekend Writing Warriors #141!

Hello you crazy people! I'm slightly tipsy right now as I type this at 2:29 in the AM. Wedding receptions at wineries tend to be quite heavy on the alcohol. Word to the wise. Oh, and yes, I've been at a wedding! More on that later. First, here's more from Adventures in Online Dating!

Le blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

Aaaand an excerpt, continuing from where we left off. Sydney just asked if Officer Patrick could let her off the hook for paying her parking ticket.

I’ll buy you a cup of coffee,” she offered with a wink. Oh God, was she flirting with this guy? So he was totally cute, and single...maybe. Well, he didn’t have a ring on his finger, and yes, she’d noticed that. But she wasn’t this girl. She was a good, honest, upright citizen who paid her dues and her fines...not that she was in the practice of receiving fines....
“How do you know I won’t walk out on you?”
            “Ouch.”
Patrick laughed again before the punch to the gut could settle. “I’m kidding,” he said.

So yeah. I've been in the lovely Niagara region for a fabulous wedding weekend with my teachers college peeps! This area is always beautiful and scenic, but add in the fall colours and it's nothing short of spectacular. The food was exquisite, the company even better, and my feet are aching from all the dancing. In short, it was a smashing success, despite the fact that I failed to catch the bouquet. Ah well. I caught the bouquet in the previous three weddings I attended, and no weddings of my own resulted. Maybe it's better luck to NOT catch it. Speaking of catching things, since I'll be driving most of the day, I'll catch up with all of you later this week! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead! :)
