Blurby for Nutcases: It's the year 2033. Since so many people have developed allergies to peanuts in this century, the government has banned peanuts and all peanut-related products, including (*gasp*) peanut butter. Side note: I think that was the most anyone has ever used the word 'peanut' in a sentence. Well, as you can imagine, Morgan, my heroine, refuses to live in a world without PB. So, with the help of my hero, Clark, they build their own peanut-butter-making machine in the secret basement of her home and begin the business of bootlegging. Also, they share a few pb kisses, etc, etc.

And now the excerpt, continuing from where we left off:
“I just don’t want you to crush me.”
“Too late, I have a major crush on you.” Leaning
closer so her lips were within inches of his, she whispered, “You can sleep with me,
but you have to pay the toll first.”
“You think you drive such a hard bargain?” His lips eagerly
met hers, firm and demanding. The force of his kiss propelled her backward and
he climbed over top of her, straddling her thighs. “It’s much nicer up here.”
“Were you all lonesome by yourself?”
So this Tuesday, July 1st is Canada Day, and I will be celebrating this momentous occasion for the very first time in our nation's capital: Ottawa, Ontario. Apparently it's a street party that goes on for blocks, with live music, buskers, dancing, general merriment, and I'm sure even a few Mounties will show up for some eye candy. I mean, to keep us all in line. Wishing everyone a spectacular week ahead!! :)
What a couple of nuts those two are, huh? Cute banter. :)
ReplyDelete(Nothing for me this week. Revamping my blog.)

ReplyDeleteHave fun in Ottawa. I have heard it's a beautiful city. One of these summers I will finally get on the train and see it.
Just a little bit. ;)
DeleteOttawa IS beautiful! It's a fantastic city to live in, and I definitely encourage you to visit sometime!
I knew he wouldn't stay in that bottom bunk for long. Fun snippet, as always!
ReplyDeleteHe's knows the top bunk is wayyyy more fun. ;) Thanks so much, Alexis!
DeleteDelicious. You've nailed the time and place so well with short, sweet dialogue.
ReplyDeleteAwesome to hear! Thanks so much, Charmaine! :)
DeleteWoo hoo! I love the idea of the lips moving close; however, I think you should not repeat the word "lips" when they kiss. It needs a little variety and maybe some more tease before the kiss. It seems to happen fast, but I don't know what came first, so maybe I'm missing something. I'd like to live the kiss with more description. For example, how does he hold her, caress her, or what does he do with his tongue to make him a better kisser than all of the others?
ReplyDelete"He climbed over top of her" comes off as awkward. How about he mounted her, slid on top of her, straddled her, pressed his sexy hips against her groin? Also, the casual dialogue at the end takes away from the steamy moment.
Over all, this is an intriguing passage with a lot of great possibilities. Thanks for sharing.
