Weekend Writing Warriors #105!

Hey there, my friends! Many thanks for the lovely birthday messages from last weekend. I had a fantastic time super-bowling with the fam, despite the fact that I wasn't the big winner. But I got the biggest piece of cake so that makes up for it. Mostly. As my gift to you, I'm continuing with Adventures in Online Dating. ;) Read on!

Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

The vibrations of his laughter shook through her. “That’s our best kept secret.” He placed two of the balled up napkins in her hands—one in the right and one in the left—his touch lingering against her fingertips. “Start with the right hand, and when the ball is at its peak and beginning its descent, toss the ball in your left hand underneath it.”
He held both her hands in his own, motioning hers in the pattern he’d just explained. Slowly, and with lots of encouragement, he managed to convince her to attempt the pattern on her own.
After her fifth fumbled attempt and her echoing frustration, he spun her around in his arms. Her cheeks flamed under the heat of his gaze. “Told you I was a klutz.”

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

Well, we've just kicked off semester two at Adult High School. I'm teaching up a storm and soon to be packing up a storm for my trip to Las Vegas! I'll be heading to Sin City at a very ungodly hour on Thursday, and I won't be back till the following Monday. Can't wait to get out of this frozen tundra country for a while! Wishing everyone as wonderful and wild a week as mine undoubtedly will be! :)

  1. Happy belated Birthday!

She's a klutz, huh? A klutz that needs to be kissed right now, danggit! Or at least sometime in the next eight sentences. :-)

  2. I'm not sure which one I would chose, but laughter is a good choice.

  3. Omg what a cute scene! You are making me less afraid of clowns!
Anyways we should swap online dating stories sometime. Seriously its so bad. I must filter through at least 25 "I want to sleep with you" messages before I reach a decent one. I have met a few cool people. I really want to go to a speed dating event, just for laughs. I wrote a short screenplay about speed dating not that long ago, but have never actually tried speed dating.

    1. Hee! Yay! Coulrophobia is not a laughing matter. ;)
We totally should swap stories! I've actually been speed dating. It was crazy-fun and ridiculous and exhausting and hilarious. I'm not sure I could ever do it again, and yet I want to at the same time. lol.

    2. Hehe. I mainly want to do speed dating for research for my screenplay. There's a vegan one on V-day. I can't imagine I would meet anyone like me there (tattoos, piercings, colored hair) but I guess I never know. I'm on OKC and I always mock it and laugh but then I meet like 4 awesome people in one day ;)
Are people more reserved at speed dating or do they have no filter on and just say what they want?
Skype or email me stories sometime, I would love to hear your experiences.

    3. You get a bit of both at speed dating. A lot of socially awkward people, and some who have no off switch. And even some who think pumpkins are a great conversation topic. lol. I went to an event that was really fun and relaxed. There were appetizers and drinks. Opportunities for us to chat between the 'dates'. So it was nice. I went on 12 eight minute dates that night and only one guy really interested me, but thankfully I interested him too. :D

    4. Yay :D I'm seeing like 5 people right now, trying to figure out which one(s) are really worth my time. I live a poly/open relationship lifestyle and luckily most of these guys do too. Which makes it for me, really interesting and exciting.

    5. Wow, that's great! I'm so glad it's working out for you. :) I'm not sure I could juggle five men at once. You must secretly be a clown. ;)

  6. We klutzes need to stick together! You certainly seem to have the juggling instructions down pat, Evelyn. Maybe you can give lessons in Vegas if you lose your shirt gambling? Hope you have a blast!
