Weekend Writing Warriors #109!

Greetings and salutations! Happy first day of Daylight Savings! Yes, it sucks to lose an hour of sleep, but I'm very happy to enjoy an extra hour of sunlight. :) Now, here's a little something for your enjoyment...more from Adventures in Online Dating!

Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

She stopped rambling long enough to catch the smirk on his face. “Sorry, I’m...nervous.”
He chuckled, locking crazy-blue eyes on her. “You look great to me. And maybe I’ll hold off on that coffee.” He shot her a wink as he turned on his heel and headed behind the counter.
Before her brain could catch up and  register how friggin’ cute the new barista was, Joe arrived--slick black rock-and-roll hair and biceps bulging. She made room in the booth, but she wasn’t sure they could both fit, and maybe it was better that way because sitting on his lap was sounding really good right about now.

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

Well, I've had a refreshingly productive weekend thus far. I hope by the end of the day to have another short story under my belt. This one's all about karaoke. I'm leaning towards calling it Love at First Karaoke. Perhaps I'll share an excerpt from it in the near future. For now, I bid you all adieu. Have a wonderful week! :)

  1. Wait, wait! Which one is the slick dude? Is he the felon? LOL. I'm loving these speed dates with your heroine. Dating in itself is a tangled web. Each week you leave me hooked. :)

    1. Hee! You'll have to wait and see. ;) So happy you're hooked, Michelle! More next week!

  2. Like your description of him. That's just how a person would tag someone in a speed dating situation -- short and punchy labels.

  3. Yum, crazy-blue eyes! That means his eyes are so blue it's crazy, right, not that he actually has crazy eyes? Either way, sounds like there's a good story there!

Yuck, hate DST with a passion. On the other hand, the sun's out here today, the snow is melting, and we're probably a good 30 degrees warmer than we were last week, so things are looking up! Adieu to you, too!

    1. Lol, yes. The former. He's not so crazy, at least I don't think so. ;)

Hooray for sun and warmth! Spring is on its way! xoxo

  4. Looks like it's raining men! At least there's a cute barista if Mr. Bulging Biceps doesn't work out (though that would be a shame).

  5. What a fun, fun, fun story, Evelyn! You do put such great humor in your characters.

And I totally agree about daylight savings time. The afternoon will be nice, but sheesh, when that alarm goes off at 4:30 AM... ~sigh~

  7. Wow! I need to find a coffee shop like that one! Love the tidbit about her brain failing to catch up.

  8. Maybe not sitting on his lap in a coffee house would be a good idea. Sounds like a good excuse to cuddle up, though.

  11. Wait, the barista wasn't Joe? Who's this slick guy? She can't sit on his lap after getting a load of barista's crazy blues...can she?

    Way to hook me, Evelyn!
