Weekend Writing Warriors #115!

Good morning, Warriors! So I take it most of you strongly dislike Joe. It's okay. I'm not attached to him either, which is why I'm going to fast-forward this scene a little bit. Maybe he'll redeem himself yet. ;)

Here's the blurb for Adventures in Online Dating: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, skipping ahead a bit. Joe's moved from talk of video games and 'ganking' people to the subject of tattoos...and video games:

“Most of my tatts represent my favorite war games: Sniper Elite, Battlefield, Call of Duty, then there’s Wolfenstein, Medal of Honor....”
He continued rattling off names of video games she’d never heard of. In times like these, of such sheer and utter boredom, she took a deep sigh and turned to Mozart. The upbeat chords of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik danced in her eardrums. When his lips stopped flapping, she put a pause on the classical tune and nodded her head, as though she were completely absorbed in the conversation.
“Joe,” she murmured, “just out of curiosity, do you live with your parents?”
“Yeah, but I’m saving up, ya know? Like, I’m probably four tournament wins away from buying my own pad.”

Oh Joe. lol. Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

Did anyone else find this past week was the week that never ended? Sheesh. It felt more like two or three weeks combined. That probably has more than a little bit to do with the fact that it was report card week, aka: Hell week for teachers. But they're finished now, and I can breathe a little easier, at least until the end of June. Wishing you all a wonderful, unstressed week ahead! :)

  1. Ha! So funny and very realistic I'm sure! He's delusional and needs to grow up - fast! Just going back to school here in England after end of term. Dreading it! I can feel Mozart paying a visit to my eardrums too!

  2. I love how your heroine interacts with and reacts to the men; she's a character you can relate to, I found myself groaning with her at Joe's answers.

  7. Oh, that hits a little close to home, I've met too many fools like that!

I like Sydney. She's a bit like me with music running in her head to distract from less than pleasant circumstances. Great 8 and thanks for the ear worm. ;).

  8. Why am I not surprised he still lives at home? Good touch, adding that. I love the way she puts herself in a Mozart mood to drown him out (I'd have gone home by now though). Excellent excerpt!

    1. Lol! You and me both, Veronica. Sydney has just a touch more patience, apparently. ;) Thank you!

  9. Delightfully funny. Putting mental music on hold is a trick I've never mastered. I can see how it would come in handy.

  10. Lol, love it. Especially the mental Mozart. I'm going to try that next time I'm in a boring conversation.

  11. LOL, poor Joe, that's all I can say

  12. What I want to know is how many tournament wins he has, and over what time period. Because if it's one or two, he's never leaving.
