Weekend Writing Warriors #124!

Hiiiiiiiii! Happy Sunday! It's time once again for me to share an excerpt from Adventures in Online Dating!

Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

“I’ll be back in a minute,” he said, never taking his eyes off her. “Promise you won’t leave?”
“Not before I get that Cappuccino.” In truth, she was willing to glue her butt to the seat if it meant spending more time in his company.
Mystery Man wore a navy tailored suit, and when he stood at his full height she guessed he had to be at least 6’2. Well-dressed and well-bred. She looked on as he bantered with the barista behind the counter. He swiped his card in the machine, grabbed the drinks, and was back at the table before she could take another stab at his possible career. She’d left off at investment banker.
“A cappuccino for you, and a refill for me,” he said as he set the drinks on the table, then reclaimed his seat.

Soooo, is Mystery Man growing on you? Not yet? Well, give it time. ;) Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

Guess what? This is the last week of school, and then I'm on summer break! Woohoo! #ILoveBeingATeacher. I have big plans for my two months off, including a ton of writing. I figure if I say it here you'll all hold me to it. Please do, okay? In addition to all the writing, I'll be spending lots of time with friends and family, particularly my adorable baby nephew. But I won't wish this week away, either. Lots of fun ahead, including potlucks, farewell breakfasts, and plenty of hugs too! Wishing everyone an equally wonderful week ahead! :)

  2. I see him as something more interesting than a banker... He's got quite a sense of humor, too.

  3. Well, he's very efficient and is making sure Sydney isn't left alone for very long, And as a former banker, let me just say, they can be verrry interesting. The things that went on in our office, I wondered why doctors and lawyers got all the TV shows- bankers have crazy drama too! :-)

If you're planning on a a bit of writing this summer, have you considered Camp Nanowrimo? I'm still recruiting folks for our cabin and you're very welcome to join. Let me know if you're interested.

  5. Yes, we'll hold you to your statement that you're a writer or we'll come and drag you back to the keyboard! (Actually, I'm looking for any excuse to escape the Arizona heat, even though this is the coolest day we've had in nearly a week--only 107.)

  6. I 'know' you want us to like Mystery Man, but... I can't help but feel unnerved by him. Still! He's too smooth, too careful... too perfect.

    But we'll see.
