Weekend Writing Warriors #137!

Hi, folks! Happy Sunday! As promised, I'm sending Syd on a new adventure today. But first, let's rewind back several weeks. Remember when she was on a date with Joe, the professional gamer who lived with his parents? And he took off on her, claiming to be adding money to his parking meter, but then he never came back? She was about to chase after him when Mystery Man (a.k.a Garrett) advised her against it. Well, in today's excerpt, she won't be heeding MM's warning.

Here's the blurb from Adventures in Online Dating:  After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's the first excerpt from a new adventure:

“I will not get dumped, not at my favorite coffee shop. I’ll never be able to drink here again if I do.”
“Suit yourself,” Mystery Man said with a chuckle. “Good luck.”
Pushing her shoulders back, she marched forward and out the door at a dangerous clip in heels, but she was a woman on a mission. The late afternoon sun’s warm rays invigorated her, while at the same time partially blinding her to her immediate surroundings. When her eyes adjusted to the brightness, they latched onto a parking enforcement officer across the street who was currently writing some poor schmuck a ticket.
Her gaze swept up and down the sidewalk, failing to spot Joe, the escape artist, but then it dawned on her that she too had parked across the street. With trepidation, she glanced back at the officer and took a closer inspection of the car: a Venetian-red Sonata with a piano key-covered steering wheel and a shiny new parking ticket tacked to its windshield.
             She was the poor schmuck.

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

So things are still going swimmingly in my own personal romantic adventures. We're at five dates and counting! With the same guy! I know, right? This is big. HUGE, even! I'll keep y'all posted as things continue to progress. Suffice it to say, I am one happy, happy girl. :) Wishing you all a wonderfully romantic week ahead!

    2. Now you have two stories going, one fiction and one so real. Maybe Joe is a cop?

    3. Ooh, interesting hypothesis. You'll find out next week if you're right. ;) Thanks, Charmaine!

I have to say that real life, in this case, is even better than fiction. :)

  3. Being a RL happy girl is definitely better than being a poor schmuck! Ha, loved her dawning realization that it was her car! I love having this option of going back in time and watching Syd choose another path.
