Weekend Writing Warriors #153!

Merry January, my friends! As promised, I'm continuing today with Adventures in Online Dating, only we're picking up in an earlier part of Syd's adventuring, when Charlie the clown came upon the scene. I can hear Veronica Scott clapping her hands as I type this. ;)

Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, picking up near the end of their date. Charlie's excused himself to wash off the grease paint since Syd's terrified of clowns....

Sydney giggled at the absurd man in blue jeans and clown make-up. She had to admit, he had a nice little wiggle to his walk. Maybe he was a wannabe Wiggle. Despite all his quirks, one thing was undeniable: Charlie was a good guy. If she could get past the makeup, the alarming amount of energy, and his tendency to ramble, he could even be the guy.

Her purse vibrated, interrupting her thoughts. She reached inside to retrieve her cell phone and punched in her password. Three texts were waiting for her, all from the same guy. Collin, bachelor number three--the one she failed to mention to Grace. There were a few reasons for that, the main one being that his profile contained less than 100 words of effort, and she knew next to nothing about him, other than the fact that he was a blond-haired, blue-eyed sex magnet.

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

Well, despite the cold weather, January is my favourite of all months. Might have something to do with the fact that my birthday falls near the end of it. But, as it turns out, less than a week separates mine and the BF's birthdays. So we're planning on a co-celebration, one just for us, and one with family. Bowling will most certainly be on the agenda for my part of the planning. And there will be no mercy. Competitive? Moi? Have a marvelous week! :)

  1. Ah,Collin is one of those "don't say anything, just stand there and look pretty" kind of guys. Nothing wrong with that, though maybe not forever. :-)

  2. "A wannabe Wiggle" - the mental image here made me LOL. And BOO to low-effort sex magnets. How often have any of us found them worth our time? Mind you, every stereotype has been broken at least a thousand times I'm sure. :-)

  3. Hmmm... dating a clown just sounds like trouble to me... But the sex magnet? Mysterious. I want to know more. :-)

  4. GF. I still love the cop so as much as your winding back time, Count my vote in for the manly cop. Terrific story telling. Re: bowling, have a great time and don't invite me.

  5. (Claps hands for Charlie!) I don't know, he just seemed sweet in the earlier snippets you shared! But if our heroine s having to work so hard to talk herself into considering him, then maybe not!

  6. Maybe the alarming energy level and rambling are because he's nervous. I'd give him a break.

As for Mr. Gorgeous but Hardly Trying... for shame!

  7. Haha! I thought the same thing about Charlie as Veronica said. She's really trying hard to convince herself... It would be a nice twist, though, Evelyn. Most of the girls accept the nice guys as friends. Poor nice guys.

Yay for you and your b-day and your BF's b-day! That is outstanding! And I'm so glad it's going well for you guys. :-) !
