Weekend Writing Warriors #155!

Hello, friends! Happy Sunday! Here's more from Adventures in Online Dating!

Blurby blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

Her fingernails danced against the tabletop. She glanced toward the washroom. Taking a long drink of her lukewarm coffee, she rose to her feet.
~~~
Sydney strode along the sidewalk, the wind tossing her hair like every ounce of product she’d scrunched, teased, and twisted into it was weightless. The bells jingled as she entered the glassed-in building, back again once more at the infamous coffee shop. Collin had texted to say he was stuck in traffic and running a bit late, so she slipped onto a stool at the counter and ordered a coffee while she waited. She’d tossed and turned all night about the way she’d ended things with Charlie. Low and behold, the always-chipper clown had sent a text this morning that worked wonders on her conscience. He thanked her for the napkin note, assured her there were no hard feelings, and said that if she ever needed to hire a clown, he’d give her the 50% off friends rebate. Maybe she’d missed the boat with him...or clown car.
Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!
Well, I've had quite the week, my friends. This past Wednesday, during his debut game on my dodgeball team, the BF threw a ball SO hard he broke his arm. Not kidding. We all heard the snap, and I somehow snapped to and called 911. After hours of agony in the ER, we were told he'd broken his humerus (upper arm bone) right in half. Needless to say, there's nothing humorous about the pain involved, but, man, is he ever a trooper. Right now he's taking it easy at his dad's place until his surgery this Wednesday. I spent most of the day yesterday with him, showering him with healing hugs and smooches. All good thoughts are welcome. :) Everyone enjoy a safe and happy week ahead!
  1. I think Charlie the clown is wise to play it cool. I don't have the best feeling about this Colin bloke.
    Your poor BF! That must have been one heck of a throw. Hope he's not in too much pain and that surgery goes well!
  3. Well, Collin gets some points for keeping her informed. The clown does too, for being a good loser.
    Wishing the BF a safe surgery and speedy recovery!
  5. It sounds as though lately real life has been even more dramatic than fiction.
  6. Love the humor you throw in - the clown car, the 50% off friends & family rate...That's what makes your stories such a delight to read!
    Poor, poor BF. Ouch. I guess this throws the birthday bowling out of the planning? Take care of him and you!
  7. I feel for that clown--and I still think he might be a better pick than Mr Running Late.
