Weekend Writing Warriors #161!

Hiya, friends! Welcome back! We'll just jump right into another excerpt from Adventures in Online Dating, so hold on for the ride!

Here's the blurb: After too many failed relationships, too many shots of tequila, and too many not-so-gentle nudges from her best friend, Sydney Montrose joins an online dating site in hopes of finding THE ONE. During her adventures, she crosses paths with a professional gamer who lives with his parents, a sweet and sarcastic parking enforcement officer, a flirty barista, a mystery man, a touchy-feely former felon, and a clown. Which one will she choose? Well, that's all entirely up to you! :-D

And here's an excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

“Uh, thanks, I think.”
He chuckled. “Well, ya know, ya don’t see a lot of folks of the female persuasion when you’re on the inside, but you make being a free man feel pretty damn good.”
Jesus. Did that mean what she thought it meant? “You mean ‘free’ as in single…right?” Please, God, let me be right, or let me be carrying some pepper spray…
            “’Course I’m single.”
Her held breath came out in a whoosh.
“Surprisingly, most chicks don’t find a guy with a criminal record appealing anymore.”

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

I spent a wonderful day yesterday with the BF, hiking through the hills of Gatineau Park, Quebec. It was such a beautiful, sunshiny day, and we had a wonderful time, though I think 10 km was a tad ambitious. It might be the reason why I'm having trouble getting out of bed this morning. However, it was totally worth it in order to earn the giant pizza we shared for dinner...followed by a giant chocolate bar. :D Have a wonderful week, all!

  1. At least he's being upfront about being an ex-con - I'll give him some points for honesty.

  2. Hm yes, surprisingly! I wonder how long he's been on the "outside?"

  3. Seems to me like she got the answer she wanted, but didn't ask the right question!

  4. Haha! OMG, too funny--the way that info was delivered. Well done, Evelyn!

  5. Uh ... the fact that he's surprised about a criminal record being less than appealing doesn't say much for his level of self-knowledge.

  6. Oh, okay, so this is the best blind date of all! LOL! So funny. I can see this as a movie scene in a romantic comedy!

  7. Huh, I thought former felons were still a major turn on. Maybe I'm thinking of emo vampires. Hope Sydney won't need that pepper spray :-)

  8. At least he's fairly up front about it. Though he could have told her before the date...

  11. Anymore? Did we ever? I feel for her string of bad luck. Nice job, Evelyn!

  12. Well, at least he's honest and cuts to the chase. I would be nervous about going on a date with an ex-con, but there must be more to him than meets the eye. ;)
