Weekend Writing Warriors #54!

Good morning, my friends! As promised, I'm switching gears this week and sharing an excerpt from my soonish-to-be-released Crossing the Line, a kinda, slightly, almost true story. Well, it's based on a bit of truth, at least.

Here's the blurb:
Madison Kelly is an erotic romance author from Canada on her way to her first ever writing conference. Across the border. A trunk full of dirty books and dildos proves enough to amp up her nerves and make her lips flap faster than the maple leaf flag.
But she's not going anywhere until George Petropoulos gives the go-ahead.
The Greek god of a border guard has something other than national security in mind when he detains this particular citizen. He can’t help but be charmed by the juxtaposition between her stammering blushes and the racy books she writes.
A hot and heavy interrogation brings out her inner sex goddess, one that she’s been hiding in the pages of her books, and leaves them both wanting more. But will they be brave enough to cross the line again?

And here's an excerpt!
With her foot pressed firmly to the brake, she smoothed her damp palms down her denim-encased thighs. She was next in line. Craning her neck, she caught a glimpse of a navy blue uniform. She blinked when that blue uniform and the long, lithe male body inside it unfolded from the gate office and approached the car under surveillance.
There was something infinitely pleasing about a man in uniform. Shifting into park, she rolled down her window to get a better view. Dark hair, sun-kissed skin…She was already undressing him in her mind, like any normal, hot-blooded erotic romance author would do.

That's all, folks! Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

Tomorrow is one of my most favourite days of the year: Family Day! Many Canadians get this day off to spend time with the people who matter most in life. I was very fortunate to be able to spend most of my long weekend with my incredible parents. They came to visit me in Ottawa for the first time since I officially moved here back in November, and I was so excited to show them how I've settled in. And that I actually have some household skills. And that the burritos from Mucho Burrito are the best thing in the entire world...after peanut butter, of course. :D Wishing you all a fun and family-filled week ahead!

  3. I was going to take you to task and ask you to specify what "soon to be released" meant, then I went back and saw that it actually said "soonish." Ha! Well, I hope "soonish" translates into "quickish." Looking forward to reading more about Madison's escapades at the border!

    1. LOL, soonish translates into...soonish. ;) Maybe another few months, but those months are gonna fly by! It's much sooner than when it was scheduled to release originally, let's put it that way. I'll share more next week! xoxo

  12. Well, of course that's what any normal romance author would do... She just has to watch to make sure she doesn't say what she's thinking. That could be awkward.

    1. But I'm the queen of awkward, and my awkward sometimes rubs off on my characters. So I think she may be in trouble. lol. Thanks, Caitlin! :)

  13. An enticing beginning, with great details (especially smoothing her damp palms on her thighs). I've heard ladies love guys in uniforms and wondered if it was true...
