Weekend Writing Warriors #68!

Hello, my dears! Hope you're all fine and dandy! I'm gonna share another excerpt from my Cheapskates today because they're attention whores and they want it that way.

Here's the blurb: It’s couples' skating night down at the local rink and Elena Armstrong can’t seem to keep her cocky jock blind date around long enough to knee him in the balls. Sadly, she was too much of a cheapskate to pay for a membership to an online dating site and based everything on Leonard’s personality profile alone. Big mistake.

At the opposite end of the rink, Ben Kessel, another cheapskate on a blind date with Iris, the ice princess, is having a similarly miserable time. Elena, a hater of all things sports-related, inches out into the skating world butt-first and collides with Ben. After sharing their hilarious and horrifying dates-gone-wrong stories, the two disappear and make everything right again on the floor in the players’ dressing room. Almost everything. They forget to exchange numbers. Now these two cheapskates need to make the ultimate sacrifice: pay for a membership to the online dating site so they can track each other down. But is the possibility of love really worth the price of $24.95 per month?

And heeeeere's the excerpt, continuing from where we left off:

Unfortunately, she inched out into the skating world butt-first so she never saw it coming.
The collision knocked the breath from her lungs. She found herself lying on her back, staring up at the ceiling. She would swear birds chirped in her ears--demonic birds that sounded oddly like Harry Connick Jr. But it wasn’t Harry Connick Jr. staring down at her. She blinked to clear the fog from her head and gazed up into the bluest eyes she had ever seen.
“Are you okay?” The man who assaulted her had a voice that could melt a pat of butter.

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

It's been a really great week in the world of Evelyn. My junior girls soccer team qualified for the playoffs in second place and I am one proud coach. I had some fantastic teaching experiences and met some wonderful new students. I got re-certified in first aid and CPR--for free! I ate icing. My dodgeball team had a total domination victory in our regular season play. I went to Montreal to see a super-cool guy and had a spectacular time. And, last but not least, I got to spend Sunday with you lovely people. Had to sneak that one in there. ;) Hope everyone has a fabulous day and week ahead! :)
